"Soooo awesoommee" the first sentence that dancing in my head when I crossing the island using the plane's of my favorite minister of Indonesia, Susi Air. This island located in the southwest of Timor island and it's suppose to be a travel destination when the travellers visit the area of Nusa Tenggara Timur, but the tourism information about these islands too little. Sabu and Raijua are two different island but related to each other. The islands surround by Savu sea on the north and Indian ocean on the south. The land decorated with limestone cliffs and hills, palm trees as long as the eye can see, this area is a paradise for the nature lovers.
"Keceeeeeh bangeetttt" adalah kalimat yang terlontar saat melintasi pulau Sabu dengan menggunakan pesawat milik menteri hebat Indonesia, Susi Air. Pulau yang terletak di bagian barat daya dari pulau Timor ini seharusnya menjadi salah satu destinasi wajib bagi travellers yang sedang berada di Nusa Tenggara Timur, sayangnya promosi pariwisata di daerah ini sangat minim. Sabu dan Raijua adalah dua pulau yang berdekatan dan memiliki kultur yang sama diantara kedua pulau. Kedua pulau kecil ini dikelilingi oleh laut Sabu di bagian utara dan Samudera Hindia di bagian selatan, kebayang dong seperti apa lautnya, biru gimana gitu :D. Selain lautan yang biru, daratannya dihiasi dengan bukit-bukit cadas yang indah dan pepohonan lontar sejauh mata memandang, benar-benar surga bagi pencinta alam.
These islands become a destinations for the weaving lovers since past, but more popular for the backpacker now days. Sadly the infrastructure of the island still little, even Seba the capital lack of developed this far. There are few inn on the area but my last visit there is only one inn that tourist can use to stay — but no worries you can stay with the locals too. I wish this area will be more developing in the future.
Kedua pulau ini menjadi destinasi bagi pencinta tenun sedari dulu, dan sekarang mulai menjadi destinasi para backpacker untuk menelusuri keindahan alamnya. Hanya saja infrastruktur di kedua pulau ini sangatlah minim. Seba sebagai ibukota pun belum memiliki infrastruktur yang memadai, jalan utama masih jalan tanah, kalaupun sudah beraspal hanya menyisakan lubang-lubang besar di jalanan. Hanya ada satu penginapan sederhana yang bisa digunakan bagi pelancong untuk tinggal. Semoga kedepannya dengan semakin banyak pelancong yang berkunjung, kedua pulau yang akan menjadi lumbung garam Indonesia ini akan memiliki infrastruktur yang memadai.
Soooo, if you want to come and explore this area, just come don't doubt! Lack of infrastructure doesn't mean its lack of beautiful nature to explore. What to do there? A LOT!
Jaadiiii, kalo kalian ingin menelusuri keindahan daerah ini, yuuk jangan ragu. Walau minim infrastruktur, keindahan alamnya gak minim kok hehehe. Apa yang bisa dilakukan disana? BANYAK!
Sabu
Even there is no proof or the monument, Captain James Cook and his crew ever landed on the island of Sabu. Pantai Napae is the witness when Cook arrive and meet the leaders of Sabu, (Sept 1770).
Sekalipun tidak ada monumen sebagai bukti bahwa Kapten James Cook dan awak kapalnya pernah singgah di Sabu, kisahnya tertuang dalam script perjalanannya. Pantai Napae adalah saksi Cook dan awaknya mengunjungi Sabu, Sept 1770.
Kelabba Madja is a beautiful valley with stunning coloration of its stone and soil, you will feel like you are somewhere in other planet once you arrive. The locals sanctified this area because they believe their god lives there. Kelabba means Soil and Madja is the name of the God so Kelabba Madja means the land of god. This sacred place will full with the villagers every May because after every harvesting and before the planting season they will do the ritual ceremony, offering pigs and chickens for the god, Madja.
Kelabba Madja, adalah ngarai indah di selatan pulau Sabu. Bebatuan dan tanah di ngarai ini berwarna dan sangat unik. Dinamakan demikian karena tempat ini adalah sakral bagi mereka seperti namanya Kelabba (tanah) Madja <nama dewa>. Dan disetiap awal bulan Mei ada upacara penyembahan kepada dewa Madja.
Pantai Lobohede is a long white sandy beach that located in the southern of Sabu island. This beach is the shorter way to reach Raijua island from Sabu. Across the beach you can see the Raijua island and the Indian ocean. It's a surfing paradise when the wet season.
Pantai Lobohede, pantai dengan pasir putih yang panjang ini berada di selatan pulau Sabu dan berhadapan dengan pulau Raijua dan samudera Hindia. Di musim penghujan ombak di pantai ini sangat baik untuk berselancar.
Raijua
Pantai Bhe, located in northwest part of Raijua island. This beach offering pristine white sandy beach with crystal clear water. Even now there is a construction project for build a pier, it's even not making this beach looks ugly. You will amazed when you arrive.
Pantai Bhe, pantai yang berlokasi di timur laut pulau Raijua ini sangat indah. Pasir putih dan laut biru benar-benar memikat mata. Sekalipun ada pembangunan dermaga di pesisir pantai ini, tapi tidak sedikitpun mengurangi keindahan pantai. Harus kesana yah guys!
Pantai Namo, located near to the harbour of Raijua offering you same panoramic white sandy beach and turquoise water. Will be worth to visit when you are in Raijua, if you spending your time until dusk, it will give you a beautiful golden sky when the sun sets.
Pantai Namo, adalah pantai tersibuk di Raijua. Berseberang dengan pelabuhan utama Raijua, pantai ini tetap indah. Garis pantai yang panjang dan air laut yang biru membuat tempat ini harus dikunjungi saat berada di Raijua. Menikmati pantai ini di saat matahari terbenam sangatlah indah.
Beside those beautiful beaches, Raijua also have their traditional village (sacred one) and also some historical site that you have to visit when you are in Raijua (you can do it in one day :D).
Dan di Raijua bukan hanya pantai, tetapi ada juga tempat bersejarah dan kampung-kampung adat yang unik dan harus dikunjungi.
Getting There
How to go there? So easy! You can choose by boat or plane. For the boat, you can choose the Ferry boat, Fast boat, or PELNI. But for the plane only Susi Air flying here. And to reach the area you can start from Sumba island or Kupang.
Bagaimana cara kesana? Gampang banget. Tinggal kamu pilih saja, mau lewat udara atau laut. Untuk tiba di Sabu, kamu bisa meggunakan kapal ferry, kapal cepat, PELNI dan pesawat <Susi Air> dari Sumba atau Kupang.
Ticket price for the boats start from IDR 100.000 to IDR 250.000 takes you 8 – 12 hours from Kupang. And the flight ticket price from Kupang to Sabu in IDR 1.200.000,- (always fix price). For the inn the price start from IDR 350.000 to IDR 500.000 including your meals (BLD), isn't it awesome?! So what are you waiting for? Sabu and Raijua waiting for you!!!
